Types of disorders

There are many different types of eating disorders, all equally important and all life threatening. 

Anorexia

Anorexia is when a person will stop eating or become obsessed over how much and what they eat in order to have what they view as the perfect body.

Bulimia

Bulimia is marked by binging, followed by methods to avoid weight gain.

Binge Eating

Binge Eating Disorder is recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food (often very quickly and to the point of discomfort)

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is  highly selective eating habits, disturbed feeding patterns or both.

Other Specified Feeding/ Eating Disorder (OSFED)

Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED) causes significant distress or impairment, but does not meet the criteria for another feeding or eating disorder.

Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder (UFED)

Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder (UFED) cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functions 

Pica

 Pica is the persistent eating of substances such as dirt or paint that have no nutritional value.

Rumination Disorder

Rumination disorder is when someone brings back up and re-chews partially digested food that has already been swallowed.

Orthorexia

Orthorexia is a medical condition in which the sufferer systematically avoids specific foods in the belief that they are harmful.
